History of this model:
Rainbow IV, designed by Georges Crouch, is commanded by Harry Greening at the same time as Baby Bootlegger and Miss Columbia in the fall of 1923. Georges Crouch already designed three first rainbows.
Rainbow IV is the result of a long collaboration between George Crouch and Harry Greening.
Rainbow's lineage is traced to fast, powerful boats designed to advance powerboat racing. In 1924, the Gold Cup, held annually in Detroit, became an international challenge for motorboat racing.
Rainbow IV won easily, skimming the race with its so special hull and the immense jet of water lifting its propeller. However, it is disqualified in Baby Bootlegger's favor due to the illegality of its hull.
After this disqualification, Harry Greenings rushed into the hunt for the records with Rainbow IV.
October 2, 1925; it beats the course record of 24 hours on a Canadian lake with an average speed of 57 mph. Rainbow IV's top speed was 60 miles per hour.
